A more affordable alternative to peppermint, cornmint essential oil has most of the same properties as peppermint, and contains a higher proportion of menthol, making it ideal for pain relief. The scent profile of these two essential oils is extremely similar: though not substitutable in advanced aromatherapy practice due to peppermint’s higher degree of complexity, cornmint can replace it for most amateur uses, including for massage oils, soaps, toothpaste and candles.
