Acupuncture needles ultimately have to go through eight basic steps before they arrive at the finished product.
Raw material gathering
Acupuncture needles come from raw materials and so, a manufacturer must purchase raw materials from a supplier. Most acupuncture needles are made from stainless steel. Lierre acupuncture needles are sourced from high quality steel in Japan.
Sharpening and moulding
Detailed machinery is employed to create the needles, in order to produce as close to an identical needle as is possible every time. Any acupuncture needles that are sharpened or moulded by hand offer no guarantee that they will produce a desired high quality needle.
Semi-finishing the product
What will become an acupuncture needle eventually is then put through a machine to add weight ensuring it is able to penetrate skin without causing any discomfort to the patent. Then, different lengths are cut.
Twining the handles
If you’ve looked closely at an acupuncture needle, you’ll notice they all have a handle. These handles are twined using an industrial machine, ensuring there’s sufficient grip to them and an identical design.
Semi-finishing the product
From here, an acupuncture needle is given a chemical cleaning to remove any raw material residuals, pollutants, and/or oils. Then, purified water is used to remove any further chemicals which could be attached to the needles.
Finishing the product
The needles are then dried with heat in a process that can sometimes take up to 12 hours. An examination then takes place to verify that the needles have been correctly manufactured, adhering to the necessary quality control standards.
Packing
Now we are almost done. Before acupuncture needles in Canada can reach a practitioner or supplier, they must be packaged. Any materials sold through the Lierre online store are all produced and packaged in controlled lab settings, in a completely dust-free environment.
Disinfection
After acupuncture needles are bulk packaged, they are sent for a full package sterilization to once again ensure that no chemicals or residuals are left. If there does happen to be any bacterias or anything that has been transferred to the packaging, this is how we remove them.
After all this, the product is shipped and then arrives at our warehouse. Then, acupuncturists and practitioners from all over Canada put in their orders online and we ship them out to locations in all ten provinces. If you are looking to buy acupuncture needles in Ontario, we have several brands to choose from.
